Ice Dosing System for Meat Products

Published on August 23, 2016 at 11:18 AM

A large catering butcher was looking for a solution for icing their product prior to adding it to the bowl chopper.

Previously they used to scoop ice from a large bunker into an ice cart, then they would have to weigh the ice from the cart into the product cart, which meant they were increasing labour by double handling the ice, plus risking contamination of the ice by the operator.

Machine Configurations

Fully packaged machines are the easiest machines to install, they arrive pre-commissioned and ready to run, requiring only connection to utilities and fitting of the ice pipe.

They are suitable for installation into areas with sufficient ventilation and clean air that operate between 5ºC and around 30ºC for standard and 40ºC for tropical models.

They did not have much space so it was decided to mount the machine high up on a large frame in order to minimise the floor space taken up.

The machine was equipped with a remote weatherproof condenser mounted outside on the other side of the wall. This ensures reliable and efficient running all year round while making sure the warm air from the condenser is outside where it belongs.

New Single Phase Trawler Ice Machine

For years Ziegra has been approached by skippers and owners of smaller boats for an on-board machine that runs on single phase power. Many of these boats don't need huge amounts of ice, but would appreciate the same convenience of on board ice production as the larger boats with three phase power have enjoyed for many years.

Ice Machine Service

When it comes to service, ice machines cannot be compared to any other piece of refrigeration equipment, as they have to deal with much higher mechanical loads. As a result the service requirements are markedly different.

To undestand this, we have to first understand how the freezing units are made and why they are made in this way. This is necessary to apprieciate why it is important to have scheduled servicing arrangements in place to ensure that your ice machine will have a long and productive life.

Ice machine for catering butcher

When a successful Manchester catering butcher was struggling with their post mix temperature they contacted Ziegra for a solution. The existing chilled water system was having little effect and they were struggling to achieve the temperatures they desired for the consistent quality they demand. Initially they bought a small 350kg machine on a 130kg insulated ice storage bin, but after twelve months they realised that while the ice was the answer to their problems, increasing demand from their customer meant they would need a larger machine with more storage to cope with the large production runs they were now doing routinely.
