A manufacturer of dips in the south east of England needed an ice machine but had only the smallest of spaces.

Luckily we had a used ZBE 1.200 in stock for sale that fitted perfectly and the machine was duly installed.

As you can see from the picture there is not much room around the machine for service, but luckily on this model all the panels are completely removeable so it should not be too much trouble.

Hygienic ice machines for bakery

The machines were upgraded to stainless steel frame and panels and ordered with optional longer legs to bring the ice outlets to a suitable height for efficient filling of their existing BR80 ice carts.

The machines were placed back to back in a bunded zone to take up the minimum amount of floor space. This means that the control panels are accessed from a common space between the machines.

Ice trials

The purpose of these trials was to ascertain the storage characteristics of two popular kinds of ice known generally under the umbrella term 'flake ice'. Ziegra offer both types of ice and so we often speak to customers about the relative merits of each.

Scale ice is made at -7ºC, and it is well understood that it will freeze together if allowed to melt during storage, whereas Granular flake is made at an ideal -0.5ºC so is not cold enough to re-freeze its own meltwater.

Ice machine for confined space

A fish wholesaler with limited space above their coldroom needed an ice machine to fit in this tight space. They chose a Ziegra ZBE 2.500 with remote weatherproof condenser as their best option.

They decided on the macro size of flake as they had previously used this type of ice successfully and they needed an ice that would not freeze together during extended storage in their coldroom at +4°C.

Granular Ice For Fish Processing

A Scottish fish processor needed their own reliable source of ice and had considered several ice machine manufacturers, but after asking around they decided to approach Ziegra.

We discussed various ice types, but in the end they decided on granular flake ice for its excellent storage characteristics and intrinsic hygiene. This type of ice comes in three sizes and they chose the midi size flake for its general performance and versatility.

SI-F system for vegetable cooling

A large vegetable processor approached Ziegra to discuss automatic cooling solutions for their cook and chill line.

They had a large area at the other side of the factory that would serve as a plant room, but needed a fast, efficient and labour saving way of getting the ice from there to the various points it was needed in the cook and chill area.

Ziegra Awarded Safe Contractor Accreditation

Ziegra has again been awarded accreditation from Alcumus SafeContractor for achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.

Ziegra has been a member of the scheme since 2011 and the new accreditation will take us into 2019.

New ice machine for 'Our David George'

Thanks to Alex Pino of Alpino Services for sending in these pictures of their newest installation aboard the boat 'Our David George'.

 

Alpino installed the SWE 1.250TW on board ice machine in the cold room along with one of his stainless steel hold cooling systems.

The machine was supplied pre-configured to make one tonne per day of saltwater ice from seawater but can be re-configured at any time to make 1.2 tonnes of freshwater ice should that be necessary by simply changing the ice discharge adapater and pulley (supplied).
